While Kat and Cards finish up on Chimera, there has been semi serious talk about returning to the fan film Star Crackers, not just the 4 upcoming books in the series, but also a story that would launch a fifth book.
Fans would not need to know about the 4 books though. It would be more of a follow up to the fan film, which had been completed in 2012, after nearly 20 years to produce it. Well, the first hour had been done by 1994, but it was not completed until 2012.
It wouldn't take nearly as long for a Star Crackers 2, even though they've talked about Maelstrom since 1992.
Originally Star Crackers was called Graham Cracker 2, and was a Silly Trek story.
We would need our first kick starter. It would have to be paid for somehow. Thew film would then be completed for the 30th anniversary of the series, about 2022. If it takes longer than 5 years, that is too long.But late 2017 for the 25th is too soon. Unless we get the funds.
The kick starter for Chimera had been paid for in house and it is entirely possible that our producers will again merely give us the money. If it is a good enough script and story, of which there isn't one yet, it will happen.
Star Crackers would continue in the year 2517 or in 2520, a lot of years after the fourth book, and times could have changed. Clerk would be retired. Jerry might be a captain. Thompson would be a rogue. Henderson would probably be dead. Kimchi would likely have become a crazy alien daycare person, a sort of space cat lady. Raxler would be dead because it would be silly to bring him back and retcon an event in the books.
It might even be the often talked about and never completed Maelstrom.
So it could happen, but we're not saying it will. A lot would have to happen. For instance, if the books sell, there were certainly be more.
Morgani and other Prospectors people have never been in a film. Maybe he would be cast.
Tim and Jim would have to be on board. Tim would be president of space security or something.
It is possible.
